New Generation iPod with camera, Products On sale, Steve Jobs back – three major events announced simultaneously, those have made the most spectacular IT event on the yesterday 09.09.09.

Apple has sent the invitations to the media earlier for their new product launches, most of the people rumored it has to be the launch of a new generation of iPod. As expected, the new ipod has come to the world.  Steve Jobs returns, representing Apple Computer Inc’s CEO, anncounced the new iPod Nano 5G.

Steve received a liver transplant in Tennessee about two months ago. The chief executive has been recovering well and is expected to return to work on schedule later this month, though he may work part-time initially.  Jobs said: “I’m very happy to be here today with you all,” he said. “About five months ago I had a liver transplant. So I now have the liver of a mid-20s person who died in a car crash and was generous enough to donate their organs.”

Going back to the conference, the new iPod Nano 5G has been added with cameras, Video format for H.264, 640 × 480 resolution, and the new 2.2-inch screen,

Today is Apple’s 09/09/09 iPod press event, and there’s a lot we can and should expect. New Nanos — probably with a camera — should be announced; the venerable iPod Classic line will likely be killed off in favor of a 64GB iPod Touch; the usual seasonal change of hues and colors.

But there’s another thing everyone is expecting Apple to announce today: the availability of Beatles tracks on iTunes after years of conspicuous absence. The dispute — long predicated by Apple Record’s belief that Apple Computers violated an agreement not to move into the music business — has seen the most influential and best-selling rock band of all time missing from Apple’s catalogue, but there’s reason to think an announcement would be made today: today is also the day when the digital remasters of the Beatles catalogue become available, as well as Beatles Rock Band.

But don’t hold your breath: according to EMI, the Beatles will not be coming to iTunes today, or in the foreseeable future.

“Conversations between Apple and EMI are ongoing and we look forward to the day when we can make the music available digitally. But it’s not tomorrow,” Ernesto Schmitt, EMI’s global catalog  president.

From a financial perspective, this makes sense. EMI is going to begin releasing fully remastered Beatles albums starting today: why would they cannibalize those sales by slapping the whole catalogue up on iTunes and let users pick through a track at a time. But mark my words: the second those album sales start to flag, Apple Records and Apple Computers will finally make up.

First, I’d like to thank to Jay over at DSstyles for sending me a few cases to review and share with everyone.  DSstyles has a large selection of iPhone cases for the original, 3G, and 3GS.  Their selection is pretty good.  It focuses mostly on more sleek and shiny cases, however, does a few leather ones as well.

The ones I were sent were the D.S. (Darius) and the Metallico Series both of which are very nice and come with a velvety cloth holding case so you can throw your iPhone in your backpack or handbag and not have to worry about it getting scratched up.  Overall, both cases are more for the people who are interested in keeping their iPhone stylish.  If you’re looking for a more protective case I recommend you read my previous blog post where I discuss more protective cases.

The D.S. case is a bit different from the More-Concepts case I ordered a while back in that instead of the back having a circular cut for the Apple logo to be seen through, the D.S. has a cut in the back that looks like an Apple logo.  This makes for an overall nicer look.  Meanwhile, the Metallico Series is essentially a copy cat of the back of the iPhone 3G/3GS.  It has the Apple logo, the word “iPhone”, a 16GB label (which may or may not be good for 3GS owners), and even goes as far as having a model number and FCC labeling printed on it.  I’m not sure of the potential copyright infringement here but it doesn’t really matter for this particular review.

I’ve just sold my iPhone 3G to my friend and go ahead to sign up with AT&T plan for the new iPhone 3GS. I’ve been surfing around on Google engine and Yahoo for a new case for my iPhone 3GS and since I’ve had a silicone style for a while, but it’s just protecting the back at which I’ve been looking for a hard shell with full protections.

Decora iPhone 3G / iPhone 3GS Case

Unfortunately, many of the models that I have found are either too old-fashioned or designs not good enough to convince me. Of course, that is not all that bad of an investment to protect a $299 phone, but I have been disappointed a little on the cases I’ve found.

Then, thanks to a member recently posting from everythingicafe.com, I think I’ve found a brilliant decorated option. The case is called the Decora Series iPhone Crystal 3G/3GS Case Special Edition and is from a web named “DSStyles”. I don’t know much about them but all their cases look great in design. With hard plastic base, the case has a lot of crystals around the edges and there is a pixel-like shiny face with a crown in the center with handmade sapphire. Additionally, the case is in 360 degrees full protection on the front and the back and is noted as having an anti-slippery back.

As expected, it has openings for the headset, dock connector and camera. An added bonus, they have a “LV Like” teddy bear phone strap included which I love very much!

Well, perhaps best of all if you ask me, is the stunning design. The case is available in 4 colors, Gold, Pink, Silver and Purple, together with a lovely bear, it’s totally fantastic, I can’t say just how much I love it!

Let me start by saying that I am pretty fussy when I come to choose an iPhone case for my precious iPhone 3GS. Well, who will stingy to find a classy case for a USD$299 cell phone? I’ve spent dozen of time to search for a real stunning case but it is really a hard time for me.

Fortunately, my friend recommends me to have something grand and elegant, which is the Swarovski Series case from DSStyles.com

DSstyles Swarovski iPhone 3G/3GS Case
DSstyles Swarovski iPhone 3G/3GS Case

Take a look at the website, they are not just providing some typical brands like LV, Chanel, Bathing Ape, as well as Adidas for men and more, Hello Kitty for girls. Not just enough of that, you may even request for custom made case, just give them the picture and they’ll do it.

Though the price is not too low, I think it’s fair and worthy to give my iPhone 3GS a valued and perfect decoration. I’ve ordered a brown LV from them, the packaging just arrived in a few days and simply include the case, a soft velvet pouch and a mirror screen protector. I will point out that I already had a clear screen protector from More, so given that I can only comment on the case itself and not the screen protector that was included. However, the screen protector did feel durable in my hand. Anyway back to my thoughts on the case itself, it is simply brilliant and elegant to carry along with my Burberry briefcase and Dunhill lighter.

Since the case is handmade, I would like to write some pros and cons, however, in this case I cannot really offer anything that would fit as a con. Please don’t get me wrong, that is not to say the case is perfect for everyone, at least, you may not want to have such a beautiful case at the cost of USD$336 but it really served me very well.

So just what makes the case seem so good to me?

To begin with, it offers solid protection without adding a lot of bulk. The case itself feels truly comfortable in my hand, yet, the nice textured feel of Swarovski crystals at the back and on the two sides, together with the velvet pouch, bringing a non-slippery back while still protecting the crystals from falling off against abrasions.

For accessibility, the case has openings for the dock connector and speakers on the bottom, as well as the headphone jack, ringer mute switch and the camera lens. The power button, volume control as well as the Home button can all be accessed easily.

I’ve been using this case for two months now, can really say that it does not loose on the iPhone. The crystals are still here, no falling off so far.

In short, my elegant Swarovski case will remain on my iPhone 3GS til the day the crystal falls off. The Swarovski case from DSStyles is available in many colors and styles.
